FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
St. Tammany Parish, LA Selects SafeScene for Automatic Firefighter
Accountability
ROCHESTER HILLS, Michigan – November 18, 2009 – Azure Wireless, the
developer of SafeScene, the world’s only completely automatic
accountability system for first responders, announced that St. Tammany,
LA Parish Fire District 1 has selected SafeScene to provide on-scene
accountability, incident resources tracking and incident reporting.
SafeScene is a system that utilizes RFID to automatically detect the
arrival of first responders and equipment at an emergency scene,
replacing traditional manual and error-prone methods of accountability.
SafeScene is the only accountability system that requires no manual
actions and incorporates a broad variety of features like visual and
audible PAR timers to improve incident response and personnel safety.
SafeScene allows command staff to manage personnel and monitor personnel
safety and automatically generates activity reports of every action
occurring at the incident scene. SafeScene also provides
multijurisdictional capabilities with superior ease of use and reduced
complexity; the identities of and information about first responders
from multiple jurisdictions are recognized immediately upon arrival at
the scene.
“SafeScene provides completely automatic accountability. We know when
personnel arrive at a scene and don’t have to deal with tags and the
problems that come with tags anymore. With SafeScene we know how many
and which personnel and apparatus are on the scene and can focus on
responding to the incident and improving personnel safety,” said Larry
Hess, Fire Chief for St. Tammany Fire District 1.
“With SafeScene, first responders from mutual aid partners can be
instantly identified when they reach the incident scene. Personnel rank,
qualifications, experience and credentials are instantly available and
it’s no longer necessary to struggle with trying to recognize personnel.
SafeScene’s automatic logging and report generation enables us to
document every action of the incident, from the arrival of personnel to
assignments to PAR timers. Now, we don’t have to spend time at the
incident recording things like personnel arrival times, personnel
assignments and tasks or how long someone was on the scene or in an
assignment,” continued Hess.
St. Tammany Fire District One’s primary responsibility is to the
citizens of Slidell, LA and the unincorporated area surrounding the
city. The total fire protection area is approximately 122 square miles
with a population over 100,000.
